Beginning early this year, certain search engine made some changes to their search ranking,   in the name of providing more relevant search results for it’s users, on official google blog it is estimated 11.8% search results will be affected by this update, put it this way, almost 12% of google search results are useless or of low quality. They planned and started the update about one year ago, and recently I see some of my ranks were lowered considerably, but almost all the ranks promoted by articles and blog posts were not affected, and a few of them even gained a few positions, it’s obvious that link building the old way is the thing of past, probably due to link spamming sites being downgraded by google.

So what exactly is linking campaign the old way? There are a lot of SEO company out there are doing this, they add your links to those linking websites without context, the only updates on those websites are the new links, almost all of them are garbage, we call these sites link spamming sites. The latest google update will definitely downgrade most if not all of these sites, any links on them will be affected too. 

Examples will be great for explanation. When I got into online marketing long time ago, I started promote the keyword, cargo strap, it was old way of link building all the way, lately I figured that every site in the campaign had way too many links, and the worst thing is that those sites are linking sites only and had no content, not even crap content. In the beginning, the ranking of the keyword in question rise pretty fast, eventually the keyword could be found on first page, the party was over when google updated it’s algorithm. Now let’s look at another keyword, chain puller , most back links for this keyword are from articles and posts, almost no plain links, now we have really good ranking for this keyword. Old and outdated linking campaign lost to content linking, what’s next? In fact the only thing matters here is content, when you create unique and quality content, not only people will love to read your stuff, so do the search engines. How do you do it? Writing articles and building blogs, such as this interesting blog, baby stroller , I build it as a hobby and kept adding good or mediocre content, now it can even rank the highly competitive keywords. Now you can see, article marketing with great content is the way to go. Bottom line is that you should create great content, publish and share with people, promote your business with the content, your effort will reward you handsomely in the end.
